Ok, just thought I'd start a thread on something not related to coins per se... Sorry in advance.

My rep keeps emailing me even after explicitly asking to be taken off the mailing list. I tried the link at the bottom of his emails to "unsubscribe" but that takes me to a web link that ultimately fails.

Then... I tried to unsubscribe through my account but the only button I could find is to "SUBSCRIBE". The RCM states that you can unsubscribe anytime! Yes! That's exactly what I want!

Silly-Question-Of-The-Month---How-To-Unsubscribe-From-The-RCM-Emails?

But there is no obvious way to do this. So I went to the FAQ, nothing. Googled, nothing. Hum...

I figure that maybe I needed to SUBSCRIBE again in order to get to the UNSUBSCRIBE option to come up in my account. That seemed like a reasonable idea. Oh boy... That got me through an endless antibot test of fuzzy, blurry, blemished pictures asking me to pick storefronts, street lights, crosswalks, etc, etc.... Seriously? You'd think that the RCM would have made this invite a bit simpler since I was already logged into my account.

Anyway, I eventually passed the IQ test and voila! I'm subscribed! Great!

But. still no option to unsubscribe!

I can report the RCM as spammer but I prefer not to, in case I buy another coin. I do still have a couple of zodiac subscriptions going on and some emails from the RCM may be relevant.

Any idea on how to stop the spam - without talking to someone?

I saw this on the Mint's web site:

"Please notify the Mint at any time by return email, regular mail or telephone if you wish to be removed from our mailing list. If you use the "Unsubscribe" function included in every email, your email address will be removed from the Mint's database as soon as possible, but no later than 10 business days after receipt of your direction. We may also invite you to tell us your reasons for termination, so that we can better understand how our products might be improved. Choosing to unsubscribe from the Mint's customer mailing list will not affect other email communications that you may receive from the Mint. For example, if you have subscribed to another Mint newsletter, you would need to unsubscribe directly from those emails if you no longer wish to receive them."

Maybe you have multiple subscriptions without realizing it?

A telephone call might be necessary.

Hi Commems,

I've only used a single account/email for the recent past (which means forever).

"Forever" has been a good time though.

I remember riding my bike in a slushy winter day in Quebec to get my 1974 silver dollar at the post office. I also remember my first $100 gold coin 1977 bouquet my parents gave to me for getting "good grades" . Montreal Canadian were winning every Stanley cups... Guy Lafleur.

But I digress.

There comes a time when things are no longer. And right now I certainly don't need a conversation to end it. Just give me a button to click on.

I used a secondary email back when I was a Masters member... my solution was easy, delete that email account...

I can only hope the email bounce-backs to the RCM perpetuate forever...

In retrospect I suppose I could have done that, but I still want to receive legitimate notifications, like shipping confirmation or anything account related.

Speaking of notifications, it would be nice to get a return notification, something like "Dear customer, we received your coin for exchange. We apologize for any inconvenience. We plan on sending the exact same coin back to you but let us know if you would prefer a full refund instead."

Something like that.

As per my understanding in the companies' IT, they would rarely develop "Unsubscribe" option via their front website.

This is not complex but not very easy. Simply doesn't worth development resources spent on it.
Example:
The Customer identified in several ways, Account ID, Phone, eMail etc. All this data leads to the Customer as single entity.
But when you speak about mailing subscriptions, every and each of yours identifications might be attached to the different subscription.
So basically you receive these mail cause :
somewhere in the past the Rep subscriber your Account Id,
somewhere in the past the MC Rep subscribed your MC#
you pressed on the "Subscribe" and entered your email id...etc

Best way to cut all (resolve the mess): to call RCM and to speak with any general Rep to ask you unsubscribe.

Usual practice:
to make purchase of the services very easy, and Cancellation or Cease more complex.

I was finally able to unsubscribe by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in the last email from the RCM.

The question is... will I still receive spam?
