This is not a "
Greaser", but due to insufficient pressure/metal to fill out the reverse legend. The shoulder of Lincoln requires much more metal (even after being slimmed down to the lowest possible relief) than what is opposite it. This is a
very common area to see design weakness on Lincoln cents and it's not because of consistently well-placed grease on the die. It is what you may call a "design flaw". It happens with many other coins. All of those
Jefferson nickels without full steps must be greasers, right?
