Hi folks I thought I would put you wise as these coins were only noticed a few months back but had been circulating for over 20 years. The George III 1818 Half crown Small head type. There are die markers for these fakes. An indent just above the eyebrow like a pock mark. The reverse has two die breaks on the garter rim one above P and 1 above E of PENSE. These coins are extremely difficult to pick unless you know what to look for they have even fooled the auction houses.
There are 2 on sale on the bay £99 and £245 BIN. I contacted the sellers as I thought they were reputable dealers both Red premium sellers with 5 figure sales and 100% feedback rep.But it would seem ebay protects anyone if they pay enough!!?. I left it 2 weeks and reported both items to ebay. 2 weeks later the sales are both relisted so nothing was done by anyone concerned. Totally unacceptable in my book but there you go sign of the times I guess. Here is the fake coin you can actually find 1 on the bay selling as a copy coin for £9.99.
Be careful out there guys and gals

You can get them removed by reporting them on the CCF Counterfeit Forum
or if you want, just list the 12 digit ID number on this thread and either
I or someone else will report them.
Just be sure you state why they are counterfeit.

Here are the two sales item numbers.

Thanks. As mentioned in the post above and shown on a known copy the die markers are identical. They copy coin surfaced recently in the last month 2 months as it wasn't available when these coins were first noticed to be suspect.I think it was about 5 months ago when a member of predecimal forum made us aware he had one and was alerted by a fellow collector who had had one in his collection for 20 years. So there must be many collections out there with these fakes in. They are incredibly accurate which is a real concern.

Is there anything else other than the die markers that would prove that these are fakes?

I don't know why I missed these (perhaps because of the forum which I don't often visit).

I have sent the current listings of these two coins for evaluation through our contact.
