@E&V You really got Design Devouring Die Wear from that one single, blurry pic? I doubt the legitimacy of that term as a separate function, anyway. What I see looks like a grease-filled die on the periphery, excluding LIBERTY (as can be the case with grease-fills), and normal thickness letters on LIBERTY. Here's the pic, by the way:

Oh cool. Everyone else was thinking it was Struck Through Grease. Thank you!! Would this be worth sending to verify to PCGS or something similar?

How do you tell the difference between the die wear and grease? They both look very similar to me?

Spruett, it's indeed Design Devouring Die Wear and a small Grease Fill. I have also seen this issue very many times as well on the newer Dimes. And no, it's not worth getting graded, as there's no premium for this. I have contacted Mike Diamond (a coin expert), so he can come take a look at it.

Just severe Die Deterioration, very common on newer dimes. The die flow lines through affected areas are a sure sign. If it was a struck through, the die flow would not be visible. Whether or not design devouring die wear is a legitimate term or not, that's technically what this is.

Actually, it looks like conventional die wear. Affected design elements don't show the thinning characteristic of design-devouring die wear.
