Hello,

I was referred to this community because I recently inherited a coin collection from my father and his father. It is quite large, and has many un-circulated coins, mint markings, and isn't limited to US currency. I have no plans on selling, but passing on to sibling's children, and hopefully get them interested in collecting.

I was looking to get the collection appraised but I understand I don't have any idea of the value of these, and I'm concerned about integrity. I have decided to educate myself and document everything. This is going to be a large, large task.

Would I be better off creating multiple forum posts or should I centralize everything in one forum?

Looking for to learning and thanks in advance for your wisdom!

to CCF. Post coin photo and questions in the appropriate section of the forum. You might want to get a 2018 Red Book but for info only. Values are way high in the Red Book.

Education of course, but I would suggest a professional appraisal. The coin shown show a very High quality and picky bunch of collectors who knew what they were doing. Those are high value coins as is. Your family was quite choosy to pick those. A professional may charge a fee to appraise, or even a cut of total, but to be absolutely sure of the right value you can be guaranteed he will do a good job if he has a stake in it. The difference between you doing it entirely may be the tens of thousands depending on what is there. Those first two coins are a good sign!

to the funny farm!
