Hello all, I am new to coin collecting and felt like while my books are not in yet, that voice of professionals is golden. I am Steve your site graduated me to it with all the professional posts I have seen. And it also seemed like a reply to someone's question actually was answered, and surprisingly by quit a few people. I am a novice not in it for millions just a time killer while hopefully being educated some in the process. Thanks for having me.

and trust me this forum is full of great people and a limitless expanse of knowledge. The coin hobby is fun to get behind and while it may have a slight learning curve, is not anything a dedicated individual can't pick up quickly. Have Fun, and Happy Collecting!

Thanks for the warm welcome, I am sure I am going to love it here. Recently retired and needed something to do to prevent my brain from vegging out. Ordered many books, but I'm afraid although there are many books on the subject, I imagine most knowledge has to come from years of eye straining footwork.

Hi, y'all! I'm new to coin collecting too. Let me go ahead and apologize if I ask a dumb question.

I've started out small - Pennies and Nickels, (mainly). Also I've been collecting Star Note Dollar Bills - any amount - whenever I can find one. I've heard that Star Notes have (some) value to them - depending on condition and rarity.

Any tips for a rookie collector?
Rest in Peace

Welcome. I'm new as well, not to the hobby, but the forum. Been collecting since 1974 (yeah, I'm an old guy!). I chose to collect raw, unslabbed high mid-grade examples, mostly dimes. Every one back to the late 1800's including the key dates. How about yourself?
