Looks like pushed over and flattened metal, from taking a well placed hit.

So....did this one also take a "well placed hit" too then? This is a completely different 1964 D Jefferson. Any explanations?

If you found 3 different Jefferson nickels exactly like this, then it could be a pre Die Chip depression.

So, thats what your calling this? A pre-die chip depression. I mean, I dont know if I should have said they were EXACTLY the same. I posted two of them in this thread, would you say they were exact? Anyway, if its not doubling then I was trying to learn something. Thats all, if no one knows or its to minimal to look into then thats fine. Just thought I could find some answers on here is all, but maybe not.

Everything is fine Cory. You have nothing to worry about. This is just my opinion of what you might have. I hope more members will be able to help you, as I would like to see more answers.

MD happens a lot on this area of the bust. If it were a doubled die, it would be raised and not flattened. MD happens on the edges of devices. Look at the tops of devices for a doubled die. Doubled eyelids are more often found on cents. Again note, they are raised and not incuse on the coins.

Yes, not a doubled die. And remember all of our posts are our free opinions. You don't pay for us to give you an opinion.
