I am wondering if the weak date would disqualify this coin for getting a G-4 grade. Thanks.

I don't think so, G-4/6 is fair for this coin. It's important not to let one factor of the coin control what the overall grade of the coin is, and every area of this coin has good detail with the exception of the date.

As long as you can make out the date, it is gradeable.
I think that it would grade higher than G-4 though.

This looks to be G/VG...
The 1924D is a semi-key date...

I don't think the date's weakness would preclude a straight grade.
