I have a preference for off center strikes, double strikes, and wrong-planchet errors, but I just added my first strike-through error. It caught my eye because it's got a very interesting appearance - a Roosevelt dime with the obverse partially struck through cloth: Now, for my more typical additions, first is a Jefferson nickel struck 60% off center: Next is a Lincoln Cent struck on a dime planchet: Finally, here's a Washington quarter struck on a quarter planchet cut from dime-thickness stock. It shows a fairly weak strike because of the thinner planchet. From a discussion in a topic from a year or two ago, you can verify the weight is correct for the use of dime-thickness stock by simply multiplying the ratio of the areas of a quarter to a dime by the weight of the dime. The ratio of the areas simplifies to the ratio of the square of the diameters of each coin. So, ((24.3mm/17.9mm)*2)2.27g = 4.2g, which is the weight shown on the holder for this coin.
