great coins, guys...good snag on the Eagle ... I have one several of those Somali silver ounce coins & have one like yours, GLB...very nice ... now, for a little history ... these little bits aren't much to look at, but both have enough detail to date & attribute ... ...I bought them because they were both found by a metal-detector hunter in the same location (Chesapeake Bay area, Virginia) ... ...the coins have been cut down in circulation (common practice in the period) ... to make change, & or, to deceive... they were found months apart within 100' of each other, & I ask the seller to provide me with a little history. ...1st, the coins (Spanish cobs)  ...now, the back story: "...There is a place at the end of the Chesapeake Bay called Grand View. It is the first place you see coming in from the Atlantic to Virginia. As you turn North, the first River flowing in is called Back River. If you turn into Back River you can actually beach or anchor your pirate boat behind the the point which was called North Point back then. If you can dig up history, English Governor Spotswood asked the Crown to eliminate pirates from this site as they were interfering with trade to Hampton. Which in actuality was not paying the huge duties the crown asked for. This site is really where they sold goods to locals without paying tariffs or taxes. The did for over 200 years. They sent warships but water is too shallow for warships. Then pirates set up cannon on the beach to face any long boats wanting to interfere. Enjoy this coin comes from a real place with a real history." ...btw, Edwin Teach, "Blackbeard" was active in this area. Governor Spottswood sent a force who killed Blackbeard & killed or captured the remaining crew of the Queen Anne's Revenge ... Spanish cobs were highly sought after in the colonies, as England disallowed English silver to circulate here. Spanish silver circulated in the USA well past the Coinage Act of 1858 ... & I'll take one in change any day! Edited by mrwiskers
