Originally sold at auction in 1995, and came with provenance from that sale, which is the reason I picked it up when it might not have otherwise caught my eye. The fact that it's in quite nice shape for the type (especially the reverse) was a nice bonus. At a scant 13mm it's difficult to photograph. Consolation for missing out on a really nice Cisalpine coin in the same auction. The month of minting is specified on the reverse so that soldiers paid with these could calculate interest owed when the coins were eventually redeemed by James II. Note: they were not, as William III won the war.
