That's an exceptionally nice ducaton, and far better condition than average; looks like it might be the 4/3 overdate.

AU55 seems fair.

Thank you. I'm having a hard time putting a value on it, these are so rare. Obviously none on ebay, no sold listings. Auction sales are slim and out-dated. I suppose it doesn't matter too much, I'm holding onto it for the foreseeable future. It's worth more than what I paid for it.

This lovely 1897 Indian Head cent came in today's mail. It has a red and brown obverse and a full red reverse (except for one tiny spot at 6:00). It is proudly going into my collection to join my other nice Indian Heads.

I love the German coin but the Japanese coin is beautiful!

Here is a new arrival, an 1831 Large Cent (N-5, Medium Letters, R-4) -- with the usual reverse die crack and shallow strike.

I love these big 5 Francs coins. They are widely available (Gadoury estimates 330m.+ minted) and substantial, heavy chunks of silver.

I won this coin for $1.50 over bullion (really!) with some poor quality very dark pictures, and so it came today, and I was very pleasantly surprised to find a nice and very lustrous AU coin. It is difficult to photograph due to some spotty original toning, but I don't want to disturb the surfaces much. In-hand the luster cartwheels nicely but the evidence of circulation and handling is obvious, if very light.

The Paris Mint cranked out 11.3m of these beauties in 1834 alone!
