And more nice Franklins, GLB49!

I'm just about done with the Franklins. Now I'm adding to my Ike silver dollars and working backwards on the US Mint Silver Proof Sets.

BTW, I was ten years old when that Mexican coin came out.

Finally, The Royal Mint Coronation issues arrived! Here are the £5 Piedfort silver coin, £2 one ounce silver coin , and the 50p silver coin. Also received was the regular £5 silver coin. The £5 coins are the same design. Very shiny in person...

I went to the local Friday night auction and splurged for this coin.
I figured the 40 dollars that I spent on it might be money well spent.

Nice additions today.
I tried to get a coronation coin from The Royal Mint, but they shut me down and was not able to order from the U.S.

On seeing them, that was my take as well. A very nice design.

I had to resort to trickery to get an order in. I had the same problem, so created a new account under my other email address and it worked. No idea why, but as of today in silver, only the £2 one ounce coin and £10 one ounce coin are available.

I have some concerns about that 1878-CC Morgan silver dollar.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Yep it's not real, it has a 3rd reverse slanted arrow feathers which never were paired with an 1878-CC obverse die. The date is the wrong font and the lettering is fairly crude. See if you can get your money back oldno7, it's a bad counterfeit, sorry to say.

Thats what happens when you do not have time to examine a coin and do research!!

One look fake - that CC mintmark looks too wonky to be real and the design is mushy.

Not sure if you got the memo, @GaryVanWa, but that 1878-CC Morgan is a fake.
