The Gem BU coins are really nice. The pictures do not do them justice. I don't know anything about the Harris Eagles but when I came across them I placed an order right away.
I'll keep going with the regular BU Eagles and see how far back I can get.

This week one of the recent Deane II auction items arrived. This is Warwickshire DH-257 Remains of Cathedral, Coventry. Has a very sharp strike and was bronzed, it has an interesting lamination to the left of the Leopard on the reverse.   "Buy the Book Before You Buy the Coin" - Aaron R. Got two new error coins for my collection, a clipped Morgan dollar and a clipped Eisenhower dollar. The commemoratives I bought for stacking purposes, only paid $20 each, the two dealers I bought them from had them at $22 each, and I asked if they would do 5 for $100, which they did!   |

Thanks for asking NumisEd, I bought this one off a fellow dealer friend since I messed up time figuring at the auction, I lost a few bids on lots I really wanted because I logged in 1 hour late. DOH! I hadn't accounted for the time change. The first chronicled event in the history of Coventry took place in 1016 when King Canute and his army of Danes were laying waste to many towns and villages in Warwickshire in a bid to take control of England, and on reaching the settlement of Coventry they destroyed the Saxon nunnery founded by St Osburg. Leofric, Earl of Mercia and his wife Lady Godiva (Yep that Lady Godive the naked horse rider) rebuilt on the remains of the nunnery to found a Benedictine monastery in 1043 dedicated to St Mary for an abbot and 24 monks. The remains you see today are due to WWII bombers, on the night of 14th November 1940, the city of Coventry was devastated by bombs dropped by the Luftwaffe. Hit directly by several incendiary bombs, the Cathedral burned with the city. The Cathedral has been resurrected as St. Michael's Cathedral today. The remains are part of the new rebuilding and the tower still serves as the bell tower. This Halfpenny token was made by Peter Kempson in 1797 so the remains would be the ones well before the WWII bombing event.
