Great coins, I never though about collecting Ancients but seeing how cool many are, I will probably reconsider eventually.
Rest in Peace

It is a one duit from Holland but that is about all I know about it. It is not what I usually buy but ever since the "how far back can we go" thread I have been increasingly drawn to coins prior to 1800.

Wow stevex6 super looking coins I really like them, get's me inspired to go after Ancients once again, but the resources needed would really cut into my already short amount of coin time.

I made a good friend through the ANA seminars years ago, Chris Connell, he got me into the Byzantine Era coins, unfortunately he passed away some time ago (2007). He taught a seminar class and attended others, was a heck of a teacher. R.I.P. Chris.

After he passed I just never got into the ancients, like he kept after me to do, my passion at the time died with him. But someday I will get some and start on that long path of education!

A little about Chris and his interests when I knew him;

Thanks for the coin-compliment, westcoin.

Your friend, Chris, sure sounded like a great guy and an avid collector ... it is very sad when a close friend and/or a great mentor passes away (I wish you all the luck and happiness once you restart-up your hunt for great and interesting Ancient coins)
