Thank you, Hondo. Earlier Britannia, Maple Leaf and Swans are the coins I'm looking into now.

Thanks, jbuck. That darker color on the obverse is a shadow. The coin is perfect.

1694 William & Mary Halfpenny, quite a nice example for the type!

A scarce Alexandria mint AE3 of Valentinian. Lovely desert patina.

This halfpenny just arrived from the UK to me in Texas. A little soft strike in the center, yet it does has some pleasing color.

The edge on this one reads "Payable in London Liverpool or Bristol"

The Shrewsbury Coat of Arms on the reverse:

The leopards' faces, referred to as "loggerheads" locally, are a traditional emblem for Shropshire and several of its towns. It is believed that the loggerheads derive from the Royal Arms of England and that the blue and yellow colours represent those of Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Shrewsbury.

paralyse - very nice William and Mary halfpenny, don't see many with the detail on that yours that don't cost an arm and a leg. Was tempted by a really nice 1694 at a Heritage sale a year ago, but it went for around a half grand and it was in a details NGC holder. Had a bit more design but basically about the same surfaces.

Thank you both!

I paid $46 for this one on ebay a couple of weeks ago, seemed fair. It was a large upgrade over my heavily worn example.

I love the odd conjoined bust on these - to my eyes it will always look like one bust with two heads!
