1981 D Roosevelt Dime With 1972 D Punch On Head

Seems odd that the date on the obverse on Roosevelt's head is 1972 and not 1981 to be a mint error. Looking for some expert opinions on this, thinking it might be from another coin being pressed into it. Hope the pictures are good enough for everybody to see the details.
