I think we should start to discuss about new coins that would be 5 dollar 10 dollar 20 dollar etc. Could they also be made out of gold and silver? What are your thoughts?

For circulation or as NCLT?

You will never see gold or silver circulate again.

As for these larger denomination coins, we need to get he one dollar coin circulating first. Start by killing off the one dollar note and then we can talk.

It's basically impossible to go back to it at this point even if that's what everyone wanted. Not to mention that most people that want to see it again very likely have significant amounts of both and would be very unhappy seeing the value that would be lost on what you would have to revalue it to for money

A reasonable and plausible idea. I for one wouldn't mind seeing new denominations. However, the reality would suggest not so considering the state of the dollar coin. As long as it competes with paper currency. Second, it would be a matter of convenience. Would you rather walk around with several sheets of paper or a pocket full of change? Still, I think it may not be such a bad idea so long as those things were kept in mind.

Another way to think about it...is if they were made of gold and silver...they would be this size, and way too easy to be lost.

New-Coin-Denominations.

Didn't France have circulating silver denominations in the 1970s?

I would have no problem with 5,10, and 20 coins, of course you would have to eliminate the paper versions. To return gold or silver to the circulating coinage would require a major revaluation of the dollar at the rate of about 100 current dollars equals one new dollar. That would make gold roughly 12 new dollars an ounce. Make a 20 new dollar coin with half an oz of gold in it That would give it a face value of N$20 and in intrinsic value of N$6 and would have the purchasing power of 2000 current dollars and intrinsic value of 600 current dollars.

Or make all our coins out of Aluminum. Then we could have all denominations in coins. Imagine a $1,000 dollar coin.
