Again, not my find, but I want to bring attention to this new listing that was added to Wexler's site today.

2017-P 25¢ MO WDDO-001 "Best Of"

http://www.doubleddie.com/2362758.html

Major notching and separation on the lettering that we don't usually see on single squeeze era doubled dies. Also, this may be one of the best examples of doubling on the mintmark due to a doubled die and not a repunched mintmark.

I'm really excited about this one! Seems like people are starting to look at quarter obverses for doubled dies and it's paying off!

Also, WDDR-007 is an interesting one as well. Doubling isn't at the center like usual and seems to be more widespread. Not a place I would look for a doubled die.

Also, also, I think the images for the new 1987 1¢ WDDO-004 are mixed up. The second two images look like a different coin. I emailed Wexler to see if that is the case.

Extending to all my variety friends best of wishes with your searches for this coin and all of the potential other examples out there .... which might be never-ending based on the finds reported here.

Clearly recognize this is a treasured pursuit by many ... and I appreciate and respect both your interest and finds. Truly wishing for you many enjoyable hours in your pursuit of them.

For me - I find it difficult to get fired up about microscopic dots and dashes that seem to comprise nearly everything DDO / DDR that I read about at this great forum.

Bring on the good old days I say ... we need more of these, an example from my collection:

1955 LWC DDO-1: PCGS AU55

New-Major-DDO-Found-On-2017-P-Ozark-Riverways-Quarter

That coin I can relate to with my aging eyes and aesthetic of what a DDO should look like.

Thank you very much for the update Tanman! My new listings are 1987 WDDO-004 (I noticed that the images are mixed up, and I notified John Wexler) and 2016 WDDR-002.

Sorry nickelsearcher, but with the single squeeze hubbing, I don't think DDs that major or noticeable are possible anymore. And since I wasn't collecting or even alive when they were possible, I'll probably still get excited over any marginally significant doubled die that gets found.

It still isn't bad for the single squeeze era. 2018 WDDO-001 is also a good one too. Although, I know what you mean nickelsearcher.

I feel the cause of these is that the hubbing was started, then removed and restarted. Normally the movement is not like these examples. I would like to see this one up close to see what die state it is in. If all examples are EDS, then just a few strikes happened and got out. If it is in VLDS, then there would be a lot of these out there.

Taking a second look it looks like an EDS coin. So the there may not be a lot of these out there. But time will tell.
