Picked this up for $69. There are 3 obverse scratches, one long one across the shield, a second below the drapery below the elbow of liberty, and a third by the rim near star 5. All three of these scratches appear to be on the slab. TPG grade in 48 hours.

Thought on grade or problems? Thanks!

This one came from Gerry Fortin and was graded vf35 by PCGS. Although it has some strong attributes I tend to agree that it is a little short of XF. Will post pics when I have it in hand on Tuesday. Thanks!

Disappointing. I could see EF-40, but this just seems too low.

This one also came in. Was darker than I expected. Thoughts? Thanks!

Well, no one can argue that it isn't original. Glad Gerry is staying true to form. Although, his low resolution pictures can be called into question at times. You are always walking a tight rope when searching for a coin that is both original and has eye appeal. Those two aspects rarely align.

That said, there is a mountain of originalists who would find that coin drop dead gorgeous.

I'm still at EF-40 on the first one no matter what PCGS said. Second one looks VF-35.
