I found this 1989 D LMC in some pocket change. It almost looks tripled. The closest thing I can find is the 1MM-009 on coppercoins and the RPM-009 on VV. But it doesn't quite match as their examples Do not show Doubling to the South AND West. This mintmark does.

This may be nothing at all but this RPM doesn't match anything, the 1MM-009 on Coppercoins and the RPM-009 on Variety Vista shows doubling to the South. This rpm shows doubling to the South AND West. The last two pics were borrowed from coppercoins and Variety Vista.

The Zinc is exposed on the east side of the mintmark, but the serif below the upper serif and the extra vertical bar to the left of the main vertical bar is not Zinc rot nor is it a plating issue. I've been able to orient the pics so I will post them in a few minutes.

It is a match:

The triple must be MD that split the plating on that area. That was what made if look different.

It was the closest thing I could match Mr. Coop. So the serif below the main serif on the mintmark is MD as well?

Plating distortion can be pushed flat. It cannot be moved or flattened with a toothpick so MD seems to be more plausible, correct?
