I've begun to figure out that there is a sort of hierarchy to finding values for coins. Correct me if I'm wrong but it goes something like this, from cheapest price estimations to the most expensive: Flea Markets Blue Book Greysheet Heritage/Teletrade Coin Mags ebayCoin shops Red BookPawn Shops Those goons on HSN Am I missing anyone? Or are there any on this list out of order in your opinion? Edited by mklpatrick 07/16/2008 4:19 pm

You really need to consider teletrade and heritage completed auctions for market values .
while the resources you have listed will get you an estimate , the major auction houses will give you a true sale value of coins at many different grades this equates to what the market is bearing at grade levels in true cash terms .

Basically true. You left out garage/yard/estate sales which for me has been near flea markets. Then of course there is the PCGS web site which is a little higher than even the Red Book.

So I guess I should give flea markets a shot, eh? What about coin shows?

Thad ,, Things have been kinda weird for me lately ,, you might say electric I nearly electrocuted myself at work , blew a little hole in my arm where it exited 460 volts 150 amps but I'm not one to brag much and that in turn put some of my past Health issues (heart stint) back into play making sure that the current did not cook blood to it and cause it to close off. I still drop in from time to time and hopefully that will become more and more often as time goes by .

Metalman - Sorry to hear that! Hope you feel better soon and all is well with the stint. That's a serious amount of juice!

Yeah Metalman.......I think many of us have been wandering where you've been ! It was under your tutorledge that helped me so much when I first joined CCF !.....with the G.D. area and posting pictures, etc. etc. ....THANKS AGAIN ! And I was hoping you'd post up some more Native American stuff too ! Definately sorry to hear about the accident at work ! WoW I had two guys on our crew electrocuted by a hydraulic boom truck touching a power line one time many years ago......very powerful and scarry stuff ! One was in serious condition for awhile. Anyway.......GLAD YOU'RE BACK BUD ! (has this affected riding the "Gold Wing" any ?)

Hello, you guys just gave me a jolt.I've been buying coins for the past month looking at the Red Book Values and I was thinking I was getting good deals. Is the difference between Red and blue that great that I could make a grave mistake by owning a red and perhaps paying too much.Which is more about right if that is possible to figure?Thankyou very much.

Blue Book is supposed to represent dealer costs, ie the price that a dealer would pay you for the coin as opposed to retail costs. There are quite a few monthly coin price guides if you are concerned about the fluctuating values of coins.
