You have plating bubbles and Zinc Rot corrosion setting in on the head, near Lincoln's earlobe. This coin has been damage by heat possibly, since the Copper plating is gone in the middle.

Hi did you see the doubling of the numbers and words or did heat cause that ? The coin can clean based on what I see so your observation does not explain the clear doubling of the numbers and letters. Tell me what cause that .

That's not doubling on the letters. That's circulation wear and dings that flattened the letters on your coin. It would be considered Post Strike Damage ( PSD), since this happened after it left the U.S. Mint.

The doubling is known as Machine Doubling. Not a doubled die.

Not sure what to believe. I was told wear and tear and now Machine Doubling. Which is it ? The only thing seems to be clear is that it is not Double Die.I am not an expert so I am depending on the members to give me from their wealth of knowledge and experience, however the opinions seems to differ.
