I found this 1987 D LMC and it looks an awful lot like the DDO-001. The spread looks almost identical and you can see the split in the upper left corner of the Y. The only thing that is throwing me is the mintmark placement. Am I just seeing flattening of the devices? Insight please.

Note mint mark area on the DDO-001? The location is totally different.

Yes sir, as stated that is what was throwing me. So, is it just the flattening of the devices?

Anything is possible now days. The zinc is soft, so it may have been flatten in circulation.

Well, if there's no chance of it being a DDO it'll go back into circulation.

Hub doubling leaves the devices raised, not incuse. (Sunk into the die for raised devices on the coin) Damage to the coin leaves them incuse of raised devices and leaves them flattened when damage happens.

It's not a DDO, but it never hurts to ask.
