Any chance of a new set of photos with different lighting? These make the coin too bright so it may be cleaned or not, hard to tell.

Probably VF details, but better pics wouldn't hurt.

VF Details - Improperly Cleaned. The 1853 Arrows and Rays Half Dollar is a one year type coin that has been widely collected for many, many decades. This one likely landed in someone's collection and they decided to shine it up and make it look pretty. Unfortunate but not at all unusual.

Need a different set of photos - these are quite overexposed - as it is, with these, obv VF30/rev XF40, my net grade VF35, no call on the originality of the surfaces but it does look like someone's monkeyed with it a bit.

This coin is on ebay for around 150 bucks. It seemed a bit overpriced to me given its issues, but I did like the edge toning a little bit.

I'd recommend looking for a nice original VF-XF coin, raw or slabbed. These coins do not tone very often, and vivid color toning is usually (but not always) the result of toning over an old cleaning.

If you want to buy one raw, look at some problem-free coins in PCGS/NGC slabs so that you can learn their appearance and how to spot them.
