The 1853 Arrows and Rays Half Dollar is a one year type coin that has been widely collected for many, many decades. paralyse Bedrock of the Community United States 12057 Posts	Posted 10/11/2018 4:58 pm I'd recommend looking for a nice original VF-XF coin, raw or slabbed. These coins do not tone very often, and vivid color toning is usually (but not always) the result of toning over an old cleaning. If you want to buy one raw, look at some problem-free coins in PCGS/NGC slabs so that you can learn their appearance and how to spot them.
