Got this one for several dollars on
ebay a while ago. The error was not noted and I only thought it was a beat-up old halfpenny. Well, when I got it , it sure was a beat old halfpenny, but I saw the MV above the king's head. Then the deep groove through the king's hair which is back of his head from a second strike.
When I flipped it over, I saw the extra N on the obverse where Britannia's head should be. It's between the original left arm and a higher second image of the arm as the planchet rotated before the second strike.
It's hard to believe this coin went through so many years in circulation and a long time in collections and was never marked as an error.
