@Stasea00, if you are saying that the copper-plated coins issued by the mint since 1982 seem to rot away to nothing much faster than the copper cents issued in the years previous wore out, then you will find lots of folks here in agreement. This particular cent has a couple small spots where the zinc core has been exposed by a hole in the plating and has started to deteriorate, but the process is far from complete.

Hey girl maybe it's time you learn the proper terminology .
The front of a coin is called the Obverse , the back of the coin is called the Reverse .
Depending on how much use and wear a Zincoln ( copper plated zinc cent ) gets, determines how brown they get, same with almost any copper Cent . A couple of weeks ago I got a Shield Cent in change that was totally brown .

As to your question. Just wait a few hundred years and see how many you can find in circulation.

That's funny T-bop, back in like 2012 I got an AU-MS BN 2010 Shield cent in change. 100% chestnut brown and plenty of luster. It's so glossy it looks like it has bronzed surfaces.

It's weird how now and then I find a Zincoln that has aged nicely. But the fact is that many of them turn bad in a hurry. (Is there a reason for the difference?) As I have said before, I think it's a shame that the greatest country in the world mints billions of coins that are so inferior to what they could be. That's not a political comment; I just don't understand.

How many 1918 cents do you find in circulation today? How many 1818?
