Just won this lot today and I am very excited about it. I lost out on one of these last week because it went for a very large sum. When I saw this one I knew I wanted it.

Everyone knows the Domitian as Caesar coin with the pegasus reverse. However, here is one for Vespasian. There are 2 on acsearch and one on OCRE -the British museum example.

This will take a special place in my 12 Caesars collection.

Please post your coins of Vespasian or coins with pegasus.

Vespasian (69-79). AR Denarius
(18.5mm, 2.77g, 6h).
Ephesus, c. AD 76.
Obv: Laureate head r.
Rev: Pegasus stepping r.
RIC II 1473; RSC 114a; RPC II 1451.
Rare, Good Fine

Thanks Ron, I have been after one of these mysterious 'O' mint denarii for a while. RIC II tentatively ascribes them to Ephesus, but there is much debate about this. My coin is not the only example of these 'O' mint mules (reverse of Domitian as Caesar). They also occur for Titus. They also come with blundered legends. As a friend of mine has commented it is strange to see engraving of such fine style with blundered legends.

Very nice, well done!

I have two - quality isn't that great, but I got them at a bargain basement price, so I had to take them:

Domitian Denarius. CAESAR AVG F DOMITIANVS, laureate head right / COS IIII, winged Pegasus standing right with raising left foreleg.

Roman Republic, Q. Titius (90BC), AR Quinarius
Draped and winged bust of Victory right / Pegasus right, QTITI below.
