I'm really hoping it's real, but the quality just seems too good (apart from missing some of the coin) what are your opinions? And could I please have some tips on spotting fakes? I have had a read through some other posts on fake ancients but any bullet point guidance would be great. Many thanks!

I'm confident it's a genuinely ancient coin, although I am not sure it is a genuine silver denarius. It could be simply uncleaned, or it could be a counterfeit (plated base metal core with the plating worn off) or a limes falsa, a fiduciary base metal denarius sent to pay soldiers in or near enemy territory - no risk of the silver falling into enemy hands.

Regardless, with the chip, it is at best a $10-15 coin, so there would be no incentive to fake it with the damage.

What does the interior of the coin look like inside the chip?

Forgot to add, it's Trajan, not Hadrian

Ah yes I see. So Tajan is TRAIANO and Hadrian is TRAIANVS. Thanks for that one! I'll upload a picture of the inside.
