Does anybody know what caused this? I have never seen a penny like this before. I thought it might be the experimental 1964 Lincoln Cent. I'm sure it's not but I just want to know if anybody knows what caused this.
Thanks

Not experimental . Maybe someone playing with an eraser around all the letters is what it looks like .

The lighter color around the devices makes me think a harsh cleaning in the past.

Cleaned coins can sometimes be identified as such by the thin rim of untouched surface around each of the design elements.
