These are actually my first Commemorative halves I've ever purchased, just for the heck of it I threw out a $15.51 bid for them and actually won. I know these are pretty common but I thought it was a pretty good price for the pair and free shipping. Any thoughts on grading? And if bad, average, or good deal? Thanks!

1952 AU-58, 1946-D AU-55. Great price for the pair.

Agree that both appear to have been mishandled, at best, so I'd say AU-58 on both.

yes - the guy I bought them from sells groups/lots of silver coinage so these were probably thrown in with the rest of his bulk halves unfortunately.

Thanks all for your information and replies.

Appear to my eye to be lovely coins and welcome indeed to the wonderful world of classic silver commemorative.

It has not been mentioned ... so be mindful that your 1946 BTW is a Denver mint example ... you can find the mm on the lower reverse below the slave cabin.

Both are lovely starter coins indeed.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

I have to agree pretty much with the grading but they are still nice commemoratives.
