1952 Wheat Penny...some Help Please

I love collecting, but obviously I do not have any knowledge about coins ... but it does not have the S ... so for me it's not a proof ... scstrawn Pillar of the Community United States 536 Posts	Posted 10/17/2018 6:19 pm Really doubt the first is a proof. Proofs were made at Philly before they moved exclusively to the SF mint in 1968, so they would not have a mintmark. However, the die state, being so worn, would not have been still in use for making proof coins. Coins can get a mirror effect from several methods, usually not kosher ways though. Also, The color/toning comes from oxidation, and in some cases can make a coin much more desirable. In this case, the rarity of the coin and it's condition are really going to limit the value it might have, even with nice coloring. Your '62 cent looks much more like a proof to me.
