I was going through some old Canadian change for an upcoming trip to Canada and found a Toronto transit token. I'm not a token collector, so not sure whether this has any value. Should I bother keeping it? If so, should I stick it in a 2x2 or just dump it back in the jar?

Nice token. Transportation tokens are a very collectible item. I have a slowly growing number of US ones in 2x2's.

That is way over priced on ebay. Atwood & Coffee's catalogue 5th edition list all the transit tokens from Toronto in the .65 it was published in 1996. In the Detroit Metro area you can find them in the bargain bins for .25 to .50. a lot of the issues have the 1954 year on them as the used the same basic design in the 60's makes no difference if the token is brass or aluminum. and there are 10's of millions minted over the years.
As with a lot of ebay items being over priced and driven by people that don't have an understanding of the items value or market. I guess thqat the further away you are from Toronto the prices may be slightly higher, or how badly you want an item which can drive the price up.
