How do you tell if a coin is a special strike coin? I have a 64 D and it looks brand new. I was just wondering because it looked out of place with the rest of the 1960's pennies. Thanks

I agree with being a good looking 64-D, but it is a normal strike.

The only "special strike" a 1964 D cent could have would be if it came out of a Mint Set and those strikes really weren't special at all.

Nothing unusual here, I'm afraid.

Just looked it up. The special strike coin is a 1964-P and the coin you are showing is a 1964-D. The 1964-P on PCGS list a total of 22 minted,so the odds of finding one in circulation is nearly nil.

It's just a normal Business Strike.

I was just wondering. I can't tell the difference between them, I just see normal coins. How do you tell the difference? Would someone mind telling me please.
Thank you all

Your coin is circulated, has the wrong type of finish on the surfaces, and was struck by a deteriorated die, unlike the SMS cents.
