Why do you say there is only one V in HLVDOVICVS ?

I see 3 'V's, all in the right place.

The diameter is like any other carolingian coin. This one is from ex elsen auction. Unfortunately with getting of the green on the spots it got some damage. I did not want that the green spots bit into the coin.
Anyway I did buy a scale for the weight. The other one does not work properly.

Carolingian coins come in different sizes and weights, depending on the type, mint and denomination.

That's why I asked.

It seems that some variations in the legend are known. Here is one with IVOOVICVS:

Provenance of this one is also an Elsen auction of some years ago. In its last sale the unusual legend did not bring a premium, though the coin is not in the best condition.

Interesting coin, and nice condition! Thanks for sharing

Tdziema , the one you picked is probably an immobilisation type minted in scandinavia or switserland. There are currently several of these on the market . I will put more information on monday when I have my new scale pertinax!
