I found these in a box of Trade dollars. Was wondering if anyone knows anything about where they came from, composition and number that may be in the series. I searched the web but could not come up with anything.

Looks like medals not tokens to me. Kinda neat. Anything along the edge? John1

Thanks John1. Never thought to look on the edge of the coin for some information. Says Franklin Bronze and a number. Also a few symbols which I will try to decipher. This would leave me to believe that they were made at the Franklin Mint and the number would be the coins number. These all come with an inscription on the back that gives the background to the significance of the Canadian event for the coin. Will have to do a search using the Franklin mint as search terms to see if anything shows up.

I was leaning towards them being Fraklin Mint based on the look but didn't have time to research and verify when I first posted.

WOW DrDarryl. That sort of settles things for sure. Is the information you posted on the internet or is there a reference to the hard copy information that you can share with me? Thanks again, this is very helpful.

It's from a book titled Franklin Mint Issues - Identifications and Valuation. I don't know which edition DrDarryl has shown above.

Was wondering if all the 100 medals in a set have the same number engraved on the edge? Not knowing much about how these medals were purchased just a curiosity question. Would assume as well that this would have been a fair investment at the time.
