It's just taken a hit and knocked that part off.
Look at the A and R in dollar, you can see the same thing.
Remember, It's only an error if it happens during the striking of the coin,
anything that happens after that is considered damage.

Might be damage, might be a Grease Fill. Either way it is worth 25 cents. Sorry.

Post minting damage, not an error. Could be a Grease Filled Die, but very minor and will bring no premium above 25 cents.

Anything like scratches or pushed over and flattened metal is always considered Post Strike Damage ( PSD), since it happened after it left the U.S. Mint. Your Quarter is worth face value.

However, if your quarter is dated 1964 or before, it's silver content value would be about $2.50.
