The inverted images show the MD the best. Take another look at that one:

Ooo, that is so cool and helpful. Could you possibly upload a pic of how actual double die looks inverted?

Here is a doubled die on LIBERTY to show the difference between the normal and the inverted image:

Note on the edges of the devices there is not glare like the previous image on the edges of one side of the devices. Thus the full contour of the design is present. Back to the other image:

The glare shows as a different color and was hiding on the normal image. Thus the claim it was a doubled die. Well because of the MD, the Op's could see the area in question, but when posting images, it didn't show, until he posted the inverted image. (basically a negative of the coin area in question.
Here are a few more I just created to show how MD and die Variety on the same coin would appear on an inverted images:
NormalSBS :

Normal DDO and MD with part of the image inverted.

More examples of part normal and inverted Machine Doubling on LIBERTY:

So if you question if it is MD, you might trying inverting the image to see what it looks like. But remember MD hangs out on the edges of devices. A true doubled die showing on the devices with a spread or a notch on the devices.

CoopHome : inverted images
