I'm thinking that it might be the part of its design. I'm not really sure, but the others will chime in later.

On the doubled columns, they are on the centers of the bays. The edges of the bays are altered by die polishing. So they rules your coin out. Look at the centers of the devices and bays. (looking too hard for something that is not there)

Look through the DDRs for this year. That will help you to see what to look for. When you do find the lines in the bays, the next thing to check for is die scratches above and below the building. They are not common to find. (I've not found any yet) But I live in the 95% Denver coin zone.
