Hi all - any idea about the identity of this coin, if it is indeed a coin? I can't find anything that could be a date. It is 15mm across. If it is a coin, what are the protrusions at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock? Many thanks!

I believe the protrusions were a result of the crude process used to punch the coins out of a larger sheet of metal, and are typical of some types of coins from the Islamic world (Moroccan dirhams from before the mid-1800s for example). However, I've never seen a coin with 4 (usually 2).
So I'm not sure whether it is authentic, or trying to look that way, and will defer to one of the experts out here. Certainly an interesting item!
