Have this very unsual dime that has a very thick edge. The coin weighs around 2.25 grams like a regular dime. However, with comparison to another 1990 P business strike Roosevelt dime, the diameter of the coin seems to be slightly shorter than a normal one when put along side one another. I tried putting it between 2 other same year dimes and wasnt very successful in getting all 3 to line up straight together because the one with the thicker edging isn't of the same size as the other 2. It's just a bit tinier. Is this a known error or just a damaged coin from someone altering it?

Looks like a type of " Dryer Coin" to me. A coin that got caught in a clothes dryer.

or it could even be the start of a spooned coin

Most likely a "spooned" coin. Post minting damage ( PMD) not an error.

These pop up on this Forum quit frequently.
To see more examples, just type in "Spooned Coins"
or " Dryer Coins" under Search at the top of the sidebar.

I see, probably not worth keeping then since it's a damaged coin. Thank you so very much for all the inputs ...
