Just wondering if anybody else is having as many problems as I am with this Coin from the RCM. The quality is very sub par. I've sent back two already and will ask for a refund if the third one is the same. These coins so far are full of scratches and nicks on both sides. Shameful, I guess the QC at the mint has fallen well below their own supposed standards.

I can see that you are very frustrated by your experience, but I would suggest it is more the exception than the rule.

That's not to say the RCM doesn't have room to improve its QC, but I don't think it's as bad as your unfortunate experience would suggest.

i think if we were to go over any or most mint coins, with a loop or microscope we would find defects..

The NCLT coins are double struck, ultra slow speed and probably polished dies one would expect a near perfect coin just the opposite, a problem coin should be rare

I've sent back many imperfect coins. Nicks, scratches, and pits seem to be very common these days with the RCM. Add to that the newer problem of yellowing coins, seen not only at Post Office displays, but also on ebay listings.

When paying $100 to $150 per ounce these imperfections should not be visible to the naked eye. Unacceptable.

Most collectors don't expect PF70 quality when ordering from the mint, but they also don't expect to see obvious multiple defects on their new coins.

I agree with Looney4Numi, For the prices the mint charges and the process the coins are made with, they had better be pristine.

I did receive the third coin last night when I arrived home and am happy to report that they read my letter I included with the last return and visually inspected the coin before sending it. This one is perfect with zero marks, scratches, or nicks.

Good to hear. FYI, the 2013 Allegory series are also beautiful coins if you are interested.

Cheers!
