Today's silver dollar derivative is the "1997 Commemorative Silver Dollar, Phone Card and Stamp Set." It is the second of the three special packaging options created for the 1997 commemorative silver dollar marking the 25th anniversary of Canada's hockey victory over Russia in the 1972 Summit Series; I previously posted information on the "Gift Set."

This set includes a Brilliant Uncirculated commemorative silver dollar, two mint domestic-rate 45-cent stamps and a $5.00 phone card. The first stamp depicts the on-ice scene moments after Paul Henderson scored what proved to be the game and series winning goal, the other shows a scene of the team celebrating together after the game was over; the two stamps were issued by Canada Post to commemorate "The Series of the Century." The phone card depicts the Paul Henderson stamp.

The full-color packaging for the set is more than just a simple folder. When the folder is opened, the center section with the sepia-toned photograph of Paul Henderson (see Interior image below) pops up/open to give the folder an added dimension.

The set originally sold for $29.95.

Enjoy!

I realize this is a very old thread of mine, but I figured it was the best place to add a supplemental piece to the story of the 1997 25th Anniversary of the Russia-Canada Hockey Series SD.

Following is the front and back of the first day cover (FDC) for the stamps included in the "1997 Commemorative Silver Dollar, Phone Card and Stamp Set" described in the original post.

From time to time, I enjoy adding a bit of philately to my numismatics!
