Angustherat New Member United States 4 Posts	Posted 10/24/2018 3:33 pm I got this quarter in a roll and seeing the edge I immediately thought it was silver then I looked at it and it was an ATB and it wasn't a proof and when I did the drop test it sounds like any other quarter. Any thought or does anyone know what it is? The pictures below show the quarter with and without another quarter of the same year. Thanks for the help! Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 10/24/2018 6:42 pm Probably plating on the surface. HSN was selling the plated quarters to the rubes back a while. And still are probably doing this. Plating removes all collection value. True collectors want the original surface. Report this Post to the Staff

Here is how you can tell: Between the reeds on the edge, if you scratch off the deepest part of the reed, then you will see the copper plating. Report this Post to the Staff
