Hello Everyone, I'm new to coin collecting and have decided to join CoinCommunity for some much needed advice.

I have in my possession this UK Threepence coin with some really big burrs on the rim. Is this common for this coin, and is it worth getting the coin graded? Thanks in advance for any input.

Sorry but your coin is damaged. It was once a necklace.

First to the CCF.

Those "burrs" on the rim have been added on after the
coin was minted. It is impossible to strike a coin with these on.
Probably used to make some form of jewellery.
No extra value as this is a form of damage to the coin.

There are protruding burrs on the other side too. It really looks like a planchet error to me.But I'm not an expert.

I can see it now! Thank you for your replies. It looks like someone did make a necklace out of the coin and then used wire cutters on it.

To CCF! Maybe you can keep it as a pocket piece or something.
