Without having a business relationship with a LCS, what is the best way to submit a key date coin for TPG, say a 93s Morgan? And if submitting through a LCS, are there issues with things like the coin being lost or being held back and replaced with a similar coin, etc? I mean it seems to me there is a trust issue at play, or is this pretty much a non-factor.

Submit your coins directly to the TPG. I would not go through your LCS. To many additional/unnecessary hands on your coin. I've had zero issues/problems over the years. Can problems happen?....yes. But if you do the process the correct way, shipment tracking, insurance, etc... problems will be reduced. There's always a trust issue. You're putting your valuables and trust on other peoples (strangers) hands. Problems have been a non-factor for me.

With ANACS and ICG, just submit them yourself. Less hassle and probably will cost less.

With PCGS or NGC, depends on whether you want to submit more coins in the future. If you are just submitting one coin, IMHO it might be best to submit it through the PCGS or NGC authorized dealer. If you want to submit more coins in the future you may want to pay the fee for a membership.
