It is a very nice coin, and you may be being a bit hard on it. I would give it at least an EF45 and I could see it grading as high as AU53.

The UK grade would be bold VF. Not strong enough for GVF, but certainly nicer than an average VF coin.

Noticeable wear, especially on the high points of the King's face. The wear is light and not distracting. I would grade it an XF.

Just shows how US cannot grade English coins. US AU50 all day. UK VF40 . On coins of Edward VII and George V You can pretty much ignore the Obverse as a grading marker as the majority are such poor strikes even a Coin in EF will look like coin in Fine. Reverse is a far better marker and the detail esp on the lions face is very well struck. Lower grade coins below VF the nose is squashed and you never see the upper narrow bridge part of the nose. Looks a little washed out but that could just be the picture. Nice coin nonetheless :)
