It appears to my novice opinion that there is doubling on this coin. Please share your thoughts with me as I am still learning but, really enjoying the hunting. I am now going through my father's extensive collection which has not exactly been preserved well (silver halves in jars and prescription bottles, morgans in a ziploc baggie, etc. I found this one searching his modern halves.

That is MD not true doubling. There is no premium for that.

Here is a link to Variety Vista for a 1971-D Half Dollar DDR. You can look at that and see if that helps you?

Note on this site, that if a device is not showing hub doubling, it maybe included. So look at the description on the upper part of the page to know what areas to look for on this DDR.

Here is a Proof DDR for that denomination:
On your coin you are looking at the edge of the devices. Look in the centers of the devices to notice the spread. You just find Machine Doubling on the edges of the devices.
Sorry that is a Franklin half dollar.
