Howdy,
I am definitely a newby at this game Nd what
I received this coin from the supermarket and it 1st grabbed my attention as it was so shiny. On closer inspection I noticed on both sides of the coin, it seemed to have silver patches were the gold had flaked off.
I tried to research a reason for the difference in the coin, and I interpreted it to be peel lamination. Please forgive me if I'm wrong.

Please excuse quality of some photos. The coin is so shiny it's hard to get a detailed picture as I am only using a camera on my phone.

Can you please help me with your opinions on what may have happened to this coin and also if you thiink it holds any value.

TIA for any assistance given to me 2017-$1-Coin...peel-Lamination?-Pls-Help

The coins are solid Aluminium Bronze so the gold can't flake off.

I don't think your coin has a lamination either, but not sure what has caused the marks on reverse under the Roo's tails.

If there was a lamination peel there, it would usually affect the Roo's tails as well.

Possibly a faulty mix of metals of the planchet prior to it's being struck, sometimes known as a planchet flaw.

Some images of Aussie laminations can be seen here:

Thank you for your reply Nevol.

When I mentioned it looks like the gold was 'flaking' off the coin, it is because when looking at the obverse and the gap between R in Australia and rim. It literally looks like I could (If I wanted to but definitely won't) slide my finger nail under and peel off ,which looks to the eye like a gold film/laminate.
I have tried my hardest to capture this particular part of the coin for you to view.

Agreed planchet flaw, as lamination flaw is usually more of a crack across the coin.

But they are more or less interchangeable terms I think.
