This one is quite rare, so in case you've never seen one here is:

Looks like these dies failed early in their life. Probably not many of this one out there.

Awesome error coin tropicalbats! I am guessing that you acquired this one from the lot you bought as well? Couldn't the dies break, if they're too brittle?

E&V this is from a different lot than the big one. I have bought three error lots recently and this was from a set of 50 I picked up last week. As usual, most were minor clips and off centers but there were a couple really good ones in there. There were a few 1955-S coins in totally unmarked 2x2s and when I pulled them out to see why they were in there, several were RPM-002 stage I, a couple were BIE or other minor things, and then out popped one of these guys. And another. So the one I put in my collection is actually at least a grade higher than this one, but I didn't photograph it first so this is a shot of a coin I will be selling off. Really rare so I figured I'd post it since there are few examples available to check out.

Ken Potter put up a page on this coin back in 2004 when he acquired most of the known examples in one buy. I believe he is long sold out and I have never seen one for sale before.
